The nEARcom
Widex introduces a wireless fitting concept with the CLEAR440 hearing aid.
No need for a jungle of cables
For dispensers with several hearing aid manufacturers in their portfolio, fitting accessories have turned into a jungle of cables.
Through the years, hearing aid manufacturers have introduced more and more cables, connectors and batteries to the clinic with the launch of new hearing aids.
For dispensers, this has become a hassle. It can be a real challenge to remember what goes with what.
Easier fitting
To make the fitting situation easier to handle, Widex has adopted the industry standard nEARcom. This industry standard aims at security in wireless fitting situations and is based on well-proven technology.
With nEARcom it is possible to cover the fitting of all Widex hearing aids with WidexLink - without the need to switch between different cables.
nEARcom consists of a neck loop which is to be assembled onto the NOAHlink so the connectors engage.
An industry standard
Together with other leading hearing aid manufacturers, Widex has joined the nEARcom consortium to develop an industry standard solution. Using the nEARcom, it is possible to fit various types of hearing aids from up to 5 different hearing aid manufacturers.
Wireless fitting with nEARcom
Wireless fitting is cable-free fitting. The NOAHlink is connected to the nEARcom and ensures a wireless connection from the hearing aids to the computer.
Since NOAHlink is still the unit used for connecting to the computer, this connection is a Bluetooth-based connection.
From the NOAHlink, the connection to the Widex hearing aids is established via the Tech Module using the proprietary WidexLink technology. The Tech Module controls the wireless hearing aids and is located in the top of the nEARcom.
Hardwire requirements
Below you find the required hardware to perform a wireless fitting:
- Computer
Incl. Compass V5
Bluetooth for NOAHlink
- nEARcom (incl. NOAHlink)
If you are already in possession of a NOAHlink, it is compatible with the nEARcom. You just have to connect the NOAHlink to the nEARcom module.
- Tech Module
You have to insert the Tech Module to be able to control Widex wireless hearing aids. Once inserted in the nEARcom, it stays there regardless of fitting method and choice of hearing aid brand.
- WidexLink compatible hearing aids – CLEAR440
The hearing aids must be WidexLink compatible. CLEAR440 and future Widex products built on WidexLink technology are suitable for a wireless fitting.
